Network Profile
ENHSA, the European Network of Heads of Schools of Architecture, is a Socrates Programme funded by the European Commission. This Programme is a Thematic Network, which aims to generate a support framework for European schools of architecture. This framework is intended to aid Schools during their integration process in the presently under construction common space for higher education in Europe. The Network provides a series of activities . Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Greece is the coordinating institution of the programme. According to the Network, Heads and Academic Program Coordinators undertake to coordinate a series of academic activities allocated to the appropriate teaching staff. This way, it is expected that the contribution of each School will be more substantial and effective and the impact of the Network output more direct.
ENHSA is administered by a steering committee of seven. There are four Action Coordinators, the general coordinator and two other members. The Steering Committee meets on a regular basis (every six months) and has the overview of the management and function of the Network. With Action Coordinators' contribution, the SC can redefine actions and deal with organisation and coordination matters. The monitoring of the Programme is undertaken through progress reports, which is produced by the Coordinators of each Action on a three-month basis and is submitted to the SC of ENHSA. The reports describe the works scheduled to be executed, the deviations from the schedule, the explanation and justification of these deviations, ways to alleviate deviations in the future, and finally the planning of future works to be included in the report to follow. Before the commencement of any Action, there is a programme of activities attached to a schedule, a description of the type of activities to be undertaken, the partners and the expected outcome. This framework constitutes a contract, the general outline of which is decided by the Steering Committee in cooperation with the Action Coordinator.
The Network to date counts approximately eighty partners , seventy eight of which are schools of architecture in Europe. EAAE and the Ministere de la Culture et de la Communication, Direction de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, and L'Isle d'Abeau are also partners of the Network. The official language of the Network is English. In order to join in please see conditions and eligible countries.
